That sucks.. I can tell you this, it didnt die because of folding. Your PS3 gets just as hot when you are playing games. Its a manufacture fail on Sony's part!

thing is though, i've hardly used my PS3 at all for gaming in the past month, and its very well ventilated. First time it glitched i was playing age of booty, it just shut off and wouldnt come baack on.

This time i was at work while folding, came home and it was F'd.

I know this though, if it is an overheating issue, then how can it overheat when it's powered off? CAN'T So from here on in, it's shut off when I'm not using it.

I believe yellow light means something failed. It doesn't mean anything in specific failed, could be an hdd, the bd drive, the cell, the psu, w/e. I'd say for what the YLOD represents, it's got low enough occurence rating. At least it's not always the same thing from system to system like the RROD. When I got the light, I just ran a quick diognostic and took an interface board off a BD drive of a scrapped PS3 someone gave me. I'm thinking slim is the way to go, it's lacking a few features (less stuff to fail) and is supposed to be more energy efficient and I think I remember reading somewhere that the slim is supposed to run 70% cooler. The top of the BD drive in my PS3 get's hot enough in five seconds of up time that I don't want to touch it.
